New Delhi: The second edition of National History Symposium will be held from November 3 at Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Raj Ghat, here.
New Delhi-based intellectuals’ forum The Intellects will organise the symposium, where a topic on ‘Odishare Gandhi’ (Gandhi in Odisha) will be discussed. Many Gandhian organisations of the country like Harijana Sevak Sangha, Gandhi peace foundation, Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi and Odisha Gandhibadi Forum are associated with the two-day event.
Historians of the country as well as from outside of the country, researchers, freedom fighters, social workers and students are likely to attend.
“How the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, influenced the general people and how he was associated with the people of Odisha will be discussed in the symposium,” informed president of the forum Debendra Nath Rout
Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Culture Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma, and former president Pranab Mukherjee are scheduled to grace the occasion as the guests.
Around 300 students of Odisha, who follow the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi will join the programme.
On Gandhi Jayanti, a preparatory meeting in this regard was held at Jagannath Temple in Hauz Khas in New Delhi.
