Puri: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated ‘Brundabati Nivas’ for the stay of ‘Habishyalis’ to observe ‘brata’ during the holy month of Kartika in Odisha’s Puri town.
Welcoming the Habishyalis, mostly widows, to the newly built facility on digital mode, the chief minister hoped that it would facilitate them to perform all the rituals for observing the Kartika ‘brata’ in the Pilgrim Town. He wished Lord Jagannath would bless them to observe the austere brata and announced to present a shawl to each of them.
The G +7 Brundabati Nivas has the facility to accommodate around 1600 Habishyalis at a time. Constructed on 4 acre of land with a cost of Rs 39 crore, it has 118 rooms.
Tourism Minister Aswini Patra, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Das, Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Tusarkanti Behera, Puri MP Pinaki Mishra, MLA Jayant Sarangi and district collector Samarth Verma were present on the occasion. Secretary (5T) to chief minister VK Pandian coordinated the programme.
