Bhubaneswar: Six days before counting of votes for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the BJD on Friday said party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is fit to be the Prime Minister of the country.
“The people of India and Odisha want Naveen to be the Prime Minister of India. The people had earlier favoured legendary leader and Chief Minister Biju Patnaik as the the next Prime Minister of the country,” BJD vice-president and minister Surya Narayan Patro told mediapersons here.
He, however, said that Naveen should not be the Prime Minister with the support of the Congress, as there have been instances where the Congress has pulled out support prematurely.
Asked about the equidistant policy of the BJD, Patro said his party will henceforth stick to this policy. “The BJD will extend its support to any party forming the government at the Centre if it promises a holistic development of Odisha,” he said.
