Similarly, Rs 99 crore have been sanctioned for four constituencies of Jagatsinghpur district – Paradip, Tirtol, Balikuda-Erasama and Jagatsinghpur. A total of 2,922 projects will be implemented in 198 gram panchayats of eight blocks of these constituencies.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the development of all villages is the goal of his government and the programme will make Odisha a modern, culturally sensitive and progressive state. “Besides guaranteeing education and health facilities, the programme will preserve Jagannath culture in every village. Every place of worship will be developed. Heritage sites will be preserved, which is essential for our future generations.”

On October 10, Naveen officially began disbursing funds for panchayat development in the state under the flagship rural infrastructure development programme, dubbed as a pre-poll sop, with a budget provision of Rs 3,397 crore.

Over 90,723 projects will be implemented in 6,794 panchayats with a focus on development of villages as well as promotion, preservation and protection of Jagannath culture. Each village will get Rs 10 lakh while panchayats will get Rs 50 lakh
All villages will get internet connection. Science park, skill development centre and work hub will also be developed. Steps will be taken to provide banking facilities to the villagers. Primary schools will also be covered under the scheme.
