Rourkela: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday reiterated the demand for second AIIMS to strengthen the health care services in Odisha.
During his one-day visit to Rourkela, the chief minister said the state government has been repeatedly demanding establishment of second All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) at Sundargarh to improve the health services in western Odisha. The government has already made its stand clear in the Assembly, he added.
Naveen distributed smart health cards under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yoajan (BSKY) of the state government to 7 beneficiaries at a special programme at RSP Super Specialty Hospital, here.
The smart health cards will be issued to about 4.37 lakh beneficiaries in Sundargarh district including 68,575 beneficiaries in Rourkela. Sundargarh is the second disrict after Malkangiri where the chief minister distributed the health cards.
Under the scheme, each family can avail treatment benefits upto Rs 5 lakh per annum and women family members upto Rs 10 lakh.
Patnaik is scheduled to lay foundation stone of several developmental projects worth Rs 580.82 crore in the district. The projects cover infrastructure, education, health, irrigation and women and child welfare.
