Mumbai: Nawazuddin Siddiqui has bagged the lead role in US indie film ‘Laxman Lopez’.
Mexican filmmaker Robert Girault will helm the movie, which will be produced by Lalit Bhatnagar.
“The Christmas-themed film caught my attention as it is the desire of every actor to start his career from this point,” Nawazuddin told film magazine Variety.
Nawaz, who is part of the Indian delegation to the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, said he was keen to work with Girault as his power and command over the camera will help bring out new sides to the versatile actor.
The title ‘Laxman Lopez’ also aroused his interest.
Girault was just as positive about Nawazuddin.
“After finishing the script, my mind immediately reached out to Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I am hopeful that this character would bring out the lesser-known vulnerable side which audiences have not seen till now,” the director said.
The support cast of ‘Laxman Lopez’ will be announced soon, while shooting will begin at the end of this year.
