Mumbai: Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife Aaliya Siddiqui has sent a legal notice to the actor seeking divorce and maintenance.
According to media reports, the legal notice was sent to Nawazuddin on May 7, 2020, via email and WhatsApp because of the nationwide lockdown.
The actor, who is presently under a 14-day quarantine at his hometown Budhana in Uttar Pradesh, is yet to respond to the legal notice.
“Mrs Siddiqui, our client, has also sent the notice through WhatsApp. However, Mr Siddiqui has not responded till date. The notice has been sent claiming maintenance and divorce,” Aaliya Siddiqui’s lawyer Abhay Sahai told PTI on Monday.
Sahai refused to divulge details of the notice as it was confidential.
However, he did say that allegations against the actor and his family members are ‘quite serious.’
“Due to the recent loss of my younger sister, my mother, who is 71 years old, got anxiety attack twice. We have followed all guidelines given by the State Government. We are #HomeQuarantined at our hometown Budhana. Please #StaySafe #StayHome,” tweeted Nawazuddin on Monday.
Nawazuddin and Aaliya got married in 2009 and have two children.
The actor earlier had a short-lived arranged marriage with Sheeba.
