Nayanthara On Feud With Dhanush: ‘Courage Comes From Truth’

Mumbai: Nayanthara, lady superstar of the South, and actor-filmmaker Dhanush were recently in news for their legal battle over a 3-second video clip.

Dhanush alleged that Nayanthara had used the clip from his film ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ in her documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale’ without seeking his permission.

The actress claimed that she had taken permission to use the video clips. However, there was no infringement or copyright violation in her documentary.

The actress, who earlier wrote an open letter slamming Dhanush for his legal notice over the video clip, has now said that courage comes only when a person is speaking the truth.

“Courage only comes from the truth. I only have to be scared when I’m fabricating something. If I’m not doing that, I don’t have to be scared. If I didn’t speak out now, when things had already gone too far, I don’t think anyone would have the courage to stand up for themselves ever again,” the actress said in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“Why should I be scared of doing something which I feel is right? I should be scared only if I’m doing something wrong. I’m not someone who would want to tarnish someone’s image just for the sake of publicity,” she added.

Nayanthara revealed that she just wanted four lines from ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ that summarises husband Vignesh Shivan and her journey as a family — “our life, our love, our kids.”

Claiming that her open letter was not a publicity stunt for promoting her documentary, the actress said, “It is not about whether the film is a hit or a flop, but about knowing a person more if you like them.”

Directed by Vignesh and produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films, ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ holds a special place in their lives.

Nayanthara divulged that the video clips included in her documentary were behind-the-scenes which were shot by a crew member.

Nayanthara’s documentary, ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale’ was released on Netflix on November 18, 2024.
