Mumbai: Nayanthara attained superstardom after going through her fair share of struggles.
In the her highly-anticipated documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale’, which started streaming on Netflix from November 18, Nayanthara’s ‘Boss’ co-star Nagarjuna shared disturbing incidents from the actress’ past relationship which he called ‘turbulent.’
Talking about Nayanthara’s ‘turbulent’ love affair, Nagarjuna revealed that he and other crew members on the sets of ‘Boss’ — which was released in 2006 — were terrified whenever the actress’ phone rang.
Every time Nayanthara answered her boyfriend’s phone call, she used to get upset.
“I remember we were shooting in Switzerland; I think she was going through a very turbulent time in a relationship. We would all dread her phone ringing. If the phone rang, this girl’s mood would just come down. She would just turn off,” shared Nagarjuna.
“I remember asking her, ‘why are you doing this to yourself? You’re an accomplished woman’,” Nagarjuna recalled.
He didn’t reveal the name of Nayanthara’s ex-boyfriend, but it was speculated at that time she was dating a top Tamil star.
Heaping praises on Nayanthara, Nagarjuna said, “When Nayan walked into the set, of course, she was beautiful, but there was an aura of royalty walking in. The warmth she spoke with, her genuine smile, I had this instant connection with her. This is a person I would like to be friends with.”
Talking about her past relationship, Nayanthara said that she trusted her boyfriend blindly and loved him more than herself.
“You just believe the other person is also in love with you. More than love, it’s trust. And you give it your all. But people assume a lot of things. It broke me when people assumed stories about it. Till today, no one has asked any of the boys what happened,” said the actress.
Today, Nayanthara is happily married to filmmaker Vignesh Shivan and is blessed with two kids.
