NCP MLA Nawab Malik’s Son-in-Law Critically Injured in Car Accident

Mumbai: Maharashtra MLA Nawab Malik’s son-in-law, Sameer Khan, was critically injured in a car accident in Mumbai’s Kurla on Wednesday morning and is currently receiving medical treatment in the ICU of a local hospital, Mumbai Police said.

According to information available, Sameer Khan and his wife Nilofar were returning from hospital after a routine medical check-up. As Sameer was entering the car, the driver accidentally pressed the accelerator and the car sped up and hit a wall. Sameer received injuries in the head, the police said.

Sameer Khan was previously arrested on January 31, 2021, in connection with the seizure of 200 kilograms of marijuana. This followed the arrest of British national Karan Sejnani from Khar and two sisters, Rahila and Shaista Furniturewala, from Bandra, by the Narcotics Control Bureau.

NCP MLA Nawab Malik vigorously opposed his son-in-law’s arrest. He claimed that his conflict with the head of the Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau, Sameer Wankhede, led to his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in February 2022 on property-related charges. He is currently out on bail due to health concerns and is receiving treatment at the Criti Care hospital, the same location where today’s accident occurred.

Nawab Malik is a former Maharashtra minister and an MLA from the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
