Bhubaneswar: Amid the raging COVID-19 pandemic, around 190 COVID-infected women gave birth to healthy babies at the dedicated COVID facility of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur since August 2020.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the COVID facility in the hospital with 150 beds and 24 ICU facilities on August 1 last year.
Within hours of its inauguration, doctors performed a Caesarean section on a COVID-afflicted woman with success. So far, the count of COVID infected woman delivering healthy babies has gone up to 190.
“While the COVID hospital saw 109 normal deliveries, the remaining 81 were C-sections. Even after being discharged from the hospital, both babies and their mothers were in good condition,” Hospital Superintendent Santosh Kumar Mishra was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
