Neeraj Chopra Betters His Olympics Gold Medal-Winning Throw [Watch]

New Delhi: India’s Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra almost touched 90m in his first competition since winning a historic javelin gold at the Tokyo Games in August last year. He threw 89.03 metres, bettering his 87.58 metres which he achieved during the Tokyo Olympics, at Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland’s south-western town of Turku on Tuesday to create a new national record.

The 24-year-old finished second behind Finland’s Oliver Helander in the Games, a gold event in the World Athletics Continental Tour and one of the biggest track-and-field competitions outside the Diamond League.
