New Delhi: On a day when Twitter issued its first compliance report and announced the appointment of a resident grievance officer for India, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the new information technology rules have been framed to empower and protect users.
The recently sworn-in Railways, IT and Communications Minister from Odisha also observed that these rules will ensure a safer and more responsible social media ecosystem in India.
“Reviewed the implementation and compliance of Information Technology Rules, 2021 along with my colleague Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar ji. These guidelines are empowering and protecting users and will ensure a safer and responsible social media ecosystem in India,” Vaishnaw posted on Koo, Twitter’s competitor in India.
Vaishnaw, after taking oath as a Cabinet minister four days ago, had said that all those who live and work in India will have to abide by the rules of the country.
