Kolkata: The continued protests by students have forced the West Bengal government to take steps against people in high posts at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital, where a junior doctor was sexually assaulted and murdered on August 9.
Hours after students marched to Swasthya Bhavan looking for their ‘missing’ new principal Suhrita Pal, she was removed from her post.
Suhrita, who was named as replacement for Sandip Ghosh last week, rarely went to the hospital since her appointment, alleged the students.
The HOD of Chest Department and an Assistant Superintendent – who reportedly called the victims’ parents and told them she had committed suicide –were also removed, informed the state’s Health Secretary Narayan Swarup Nigam.
The Health department also cancelled RG Kar ex-principal Sandip’s appointment as principal of Calcutta National Medical College.
