Bhubaneswar: School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Saturday said the new academic session in Odisha’s schools will begin from May 1.
Dash said that like the CBSE, the Odisha government was also looking at restoring single-exam format from the next academic year as well as Practical exams for Class 9 and 10. However, no decision has been taken yet, he added.
The CBSE has decided to restore single-exam format of the pre-pandemic period from the next academic year for Class 10 and 12 students.
The CBSE had divided the Class 10 and 12 exams into two parts — Term 1 and Term 2 — in view of COVID-19.
Earlier in the day, Dash announced a 10-day summer vacation — from June 6 to 16 — this year instead of the usual 50 days.
The Odisha government is also considering fully restoring the school syllabus, curtailed because of COVID-19, from the 2022-23 academic session.
The school syllabus was curtailed by 30 per cent during 2020-21 and 2021-22 in view of the pandemic.
