Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited Investiture Ceremony of SAI International School, to formally induct the new student council and club bearers, was held at the Indraprastha Auditorium on Saturday.
Each student council member and club bearer, with sashes adorning their shoulders and pride in their eyes, stepped forward to accept the responsibility of leading their peers.
The young leaders pledged to uphold the values of the school with integrity, dedication, and respect at the oath-taking ceremony. Newly-elected head girl Shagun Samantarai and head boy Syed Ayaan Ali expressed gratitude for the trust placed in them and shared their vision of collaborative, inclusive leadership.
The annual event, which celebrates leadership, accountability, and the school’s commitment to holistic student development, was graced by Dr S. Dev Datta Singh, Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate as the chief guest.
The school’s NCC cadets welcomed him with ceremonial honour and escorted him to the Galaxy of Stars, symbolising the light of guidance and excellence that every leader must embody.
In an inspiring address to the students, Dr Singh said leadership is ‘never a solo act.’
“It thrives on collaboration, empathy, and the ability to lift others. These next two years will shape you immensely, not just academically, but in character and confidence, before you step into the college world. He also advised students that in today’s digital world, it’s also vital that young leaders are alert to cyber risks, especially on social media. Be mindful of what you post, be aware of phishing attempts, and use strong digital hygiene,” the police commissioner said.
The investiture ceremony began on a harmonious note with a musical performance by the SAI Choir, setting the tone for a dignified and inspiring ceremony.
In her welcome address after a musical performance by the SAI Choir, SAI International Education Group chairperson Dr Silpi Sahoo encouraged the students with a powerful story about resilience and courage.
“When a storm approaches, most birds seek shelter. But the eagle does not. It flies above the storm, using the wind to soar higher. You too must rise above challenges, for leadership is not just about position, it is about vision, strength, and service,” said Dr Sahoo, urging the students to embrace adversity as an opportunity to grow and lead with purpose.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Nilakantha Panigrahi, Director Academics and Senior Principal, followed by the National Anthem.
