Bhubaneswar: People across Odisha celebrated Odia New Year or Maha Bisuba Sankranti with religious fervour by visiting temples and distributing pana, a drink made of wood apple, on Saturday.
Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wished people on this auspicious occasion, which marks the end of spring and beginning of summer.

Besides leaders of different political parties, Bollywood actoress Raveena Tandon too wished Odias on this day. The actress had attended a few events in Odisha capital in the recent day and courted controversy for shooting an advertisement in No Camera Zone of Lingaraj Temple.
