Jaipur: In a tragedy of immeasurable proportions, a three-year-old child who had fallen into a borewell in Rajasthan’s Kotputli 10 days ago, died shortly after she was rescued on Wednesday.
Rescuers managed to bring out Chetna after five failed attempts over the past few days. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors found her dead while examining her.
“She was brought in and immediately moved to the emergency room, where a special bed was set up for examination. After the doctors performed a procedure, they confirmed the child was no longer alive. The body was then transferred to the morgue. The postmortem examination has been completed as per the collector’s orders,” said Dr Chetanya Rawat, the hospital’s medical officer.
Chetna was stuck in a 700-feet borewell in Badiyali ki Dhani of Kiratpura village of Kotputli.
She fell down a 700-feet borewell in Badiyali ki Dhani, in Kiratpura village, while playing on December 23. The girl’s parents heard her crying and found her stuck in the borewell.
The national and state Disaster Relief Forces reached the spot with a medical team and left no stone unturned to rescue the girl.
They supplied her oxygen through a pipe. After efforts to pull her up failed, the rescue teams started digging. Unfortunately, the tunnel they dug turned out to be in the wrong direction.
Since Tuesday, neither food not oxygen could be provided to the girl, and her condition became critical.
Experts from Delhi and Jaipur Metro were summoned to assist the rescue teams. They were successful in the end, but ultimately their valiant efforts went in vain.
