Bhubaneswar: Newly-elected Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Souvik Biswal was injured in a car crash on the outskirts of the Odisha capital late on Monday.
The accident took place on NH 16 near Hanspal. Biswal’s friend was driving the car, which was badly damaged in the accident.

Souvik is the son of former MLA Pravat Biswal, an accused in the multi-crore chit fund scam. The BJD had replaced the tainted leader with his son this election and he won the seat by defeating BJP’s Nayan Kishore Mohanty by a margin of over 20,000 votes.
