Bhubaneswar: Health condition of Soumyashree Bisi, the undergraduate girl student who attempted self-immolation at FM (Autonomous) College in Balasore, continues to remain critical.
“There has been no significant improvement in her condition. She is critical and stable, almost the same condition since her arrival at the hospital. The next 72 hours are crucial,” Superintendent of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar Dilip Parida informed on Monday.
The 20-year-old has sustained 90–95% burns and her kidneys, respiratory tract and lungs have been severely affected due to the fire and smoke inhalation. She is currently on ventilator support in the burns ICU.
Dr Parida further stated that an eight-member team of medical experts is closely monitoring her progress. “Fluid replacement is ongoing, and we are in constant touch with AIIMS-Delhi for guidance. Her blood pressure is being maintained. She has a slight fever and is being administered antibiotics. Dialysis may be conducted again today, if needed. We are doing our best to provide her with the best medical care,” he added.
