Naili: Residents of Dihasithala village under Niali block in Cuttack district on Sunday claimed to have captured the sheep killer that had been wreaking havoc in their locality for past two months.
The villagers caught a jackal like canine and claimed that four other such animals, which were sighted near the village, managed to escape. However, the animal caught by the villagers is an infant.
A team of forest officials, who reached the spot, took the animal into their custody. The species of the animal can be determined only after an examination is conducted by the Nandankanan zoo officials and wildlife experts, an official.
