Bhubaneswar: The coldwave sweeping Odisha intensified further with the mercury plummeting to 5 degree Celsius at G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district followed by Similiguda in Koraput at 7 degree Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday.
The night temperature dipped to 10 degree Celsius or below in at least 10 places in the state, it said.
In north and north central districts, the night temperature dropped by 3 to 4 degree Celsius.
While state capital Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 13 degree Celsius, the mercury dropped to 13.2 degree Celsius in the millennium city of Cuttack, the IMD data said.
Ten places recorded a minimum temperature below or at 10 degree Celsius:
- G Udaygiri: 5
- Similiguda: 7
- Keonjhar: 7.6
- Chiplima: 7.8
- Phulbani: 8
- Jharsuguda: 8.2
- Sundergarh: 8.5
- Koraput: 9
- Daringbadi: 9
- Angul: 10
While dense fog was experienced in Phulbani, shallow and moderate fog prevailed in Bhawanipatna and Cuttack.
