Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital recorded 20.2°C at 5.30 am on Wednesday compared to 16.2°C during the same time the previous day, which is an increase of almost 4°C, according Meteorologist Umasankar Das.
The minimum temperature in the city was 18.6°C in the last 24 hours. It had recorded 13.6°C the previous day and the season’s lowest of 10.9°C on Sunday as an unrelenting cold wave swept across the state for four days.
On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted 3-5°C rise in the night temperature during the next 3 days with no large change thereafter amid rain and thunderstorm activity till December 20 following a change in the wind pattern and easterly as well as south-easterly wind carrying moisture blowing towards the state.

In the last 24 hours, Rourkela was the coldest place in the state at 7.2°C followed by Sundargarh at 8.1°C, Jharsuguda at 8.6°C and Kirei at 9.8°C. The night temperature rose by almost 5°C in Daringbad. The hill station in Kandhamal district recorded 9.6°C as against 4.7°C the previous day when the mercury had plummeted below 10°C at 13 places in Odisha.
