Night Trail To Begin At Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary Near Bhubaneswar On This Date
Bhubaneswar: The Forest department is all set to launch a ‘nocturnal trail’ in the Bharatpur section of Chandaka-Dampara Wildlife Sanctuary near Odisha capital from January 29.
“The visitors, who were unable to visit the sanctuary during at daytime due to their busy work schedule, can enjoy the night trail, which will remain open till 9.30 pm,” said Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda said on Friday.
The night trail will cover a part of the sanctuary on the side of Bharatpur.
He further said that this initiative will be a huge learning experience on wildlife interaction in the forest during the night for visitors, especially students and researcher. The youth will also get to know more about the local plant and wildlife species, Nanda added.
Several wildlife species including elephants, barking deer, and porcupines abound in Chandaka-Dampara sanctuary spread over 194 sq km area.
Chandaka DFO Md Jameel had earlier told the media that this first-of-its-kind programme in the state will be of much help to students and researchers of OUAT, CET, BJB, ILS, Xavier, IIT, NISER and many such institutions as well as schools and colleges in the state capital and its periphery.
