As per the report, Nirav Modi has already approached two law firms. While, the diamond merchant has approached the Boutique Law, whose Indian-origin lawyer Anand Doobay specialises in criminal matters and is also part of the panel which is working for Vijay Mallya, the other company which is being weighed as an option is Mishcon De Reya.
The UK legal system gives weightage to human rights, which makes it a considerably an easy option for seeking asylum.
The CBI, however, said they had no information about Nirav.
“We have a diffusion notice out with the Interpol which means that if he moves internationally, they will inform us,” NDTV quoted a CBI spokesperson in its report.
It is believed that the fraudster first flew to UAE from India and then to Hong Kong and London. He has reportedly left UK and is now believed to be residing in New York.
