Bengaluru: She may be the daughter of one of India’s most powerful women, but that was no reason for her to opt for a big fat marriage, or a destination wedding.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s daughter Parakala Vangamayi got married in a simple, traditional ceremony at their residence here on Thursday.
Parakala’s marriage with Prateek was solemnised as per Brahmin tradition, with seers of Udupi blessing the bride and groom, reported NDTV.
The wedding took place in the Vedic order of Udupi’s Adamaru Mutt.
The bride wore a pink saree and paired it with a green blouse, while the groom donned a white pancha and shawl.
Nirmala, the bride’s mother, was seen in a Molakalmuru saree, made of traditional Karnataka silk.
Only family and friends of the two families were present at the wedding, with politicians and celebrities from other fields conspicuous by their absence.
