New Delhi: In a sharp escalation of ongoing political friction in Parliament, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has formally submitted a substantive motion seeking disqualification of Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha.
The move came a day after intense exchanges in the House during which Rahul criticised the Centre on issues ranging from the India-US trade deal to allegations against Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri over the Epstein Files disclosures. He accused the NDA government of compromising national interests.
In his notice, the BJP MP said that Rahul Gandhi made claims against institutions hurting Parliament’s dignity. He also accused the LoP of bringing the Army into politics to attack the government. He claimed that his remarks about big businesses and banks damaged India’s economic image. Dubey also raised questions about his foreign trips and alleged links with anti-India elements, while seeking a Parliamentary inquiry into his conduct and possible action against him.
“I have moved a substantive motion against Rahul Gandhi on how he is misleading the nation and colludes with anti-India forces. I have mentioned his visits to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia with Soros Foundation, Ford Foundation and USAID,” he told reporters.
The BJP MP demanded that the “Lok Sabha membership of Rahul Gandhi be cancelled and he be debarred from contesting elections for life”.
