New Delhi: Nissan has launched its new urban SUV – Kicks in India. This car is completely different from the Kicks sold globally. The Indian version is larger and shares the underpinnings with the Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster and Captur.
Starting at an ex-showroom price of Rs 9.55 lakh for the base petrol, the Nissan Kicks is priced above the Terrano and closer to the Renault Captur. It undercuts its biggest competition, the Hyundai Creta by Rs 5,000.
The Nissan Kicks will also be available through a subscription programme, which will cost as low as Rs 11/month.
The Kicks along with the new Nissan Connect suite of apps and smartwatch compatibility, also gets a segment first 360-degree camera that offers rear, side and birds eye views of the car.The car also gets a segment first leather-wrapped dashboard. It is loaded with features such as rain sensing wipers, cruise control, cornering lamps, cooled glove box, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay integration, quilted leather seats, and standard climate control for all variants.
Powering the Kicks is a 1498cc petrol engine that produces 106PS and 142Nm. The Kicks is also available in a diesel variant. The 1461cc diesel engines makes 110PS and 240Nm torque. The diesel engine gets a 6-speed gearbox while the petrol gets a 5-speed unit. There is no automatic variant now.
The car has a 5.2m turning radius.
Safety-wise, the Kicks has ABS with brake assist, dual front airbags and rear parking sensors along with the 360-degree camera.
The car is available in Pearl White, Blade Silver, Bronze Grey, Amber Orange, Deep Blue Pearl, Night Shade, and Fire Red.
Nissan announced that it will launch the Leaf EV in India this year. It is the highest sold electric car in the world.
