New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to announce a revamped national team today, with party sources indicating that the exercise may combine younger faces with leaders who have long experience in the organisation.
Nabin, who assumed charge as the BJP’s 16th national president in January 2026, is likely to disclose the changes later in the afternoon, sources said.
The proposed induction of younger leaders is being viewed as a possible effort to expand the party’s connect with Gen Z. Thousands of young people were reportedly involved in the recent student demonstrations led by the Cockroach Janta Party over the alleged NEET question-paper leak. The agitation preceded Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as Union education minister.
According to sources, some senior ministers may be transferred from the Union Council of Ministers to organisational responsibilities within the BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi could subsequently carry out a reshuffle of the Union Cabinet, as reported by ETV Bharat.
How BJP Is Organised
The BJP’s topmost guiding group is its four-member marg darshak team. It comprises Prime Minister Narendra Modi, veteran leaders L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, besides Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The group reflects the party’s senior-most experience and its long organisational history.
Below it is the 12-member parliamentary board, also headed by Modi. The panel comprises senior ministers and prominent organisational figures, including Nitin Nabin, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, J.P. Nadda, former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, OBC cell chief K. Laxman, Punjab’s Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Haryana’s Sudha Yadav, Madhya Pradesh leader Satyanarayan Jatiya and B.L. Santosh, who serves as the BJP’s general secretary (organisation).
The central election committee occupies the next level of the party structure and is chaired by Modi. Besides the members of the parliamentary board, it includes Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union minister Bhupender Yadav and Vanathi Srinivasan, who heads the BJP Mahila Morcha.
The party has 11 vice-presidents, including former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and MP Baijayant Panda. Its seven general secretaries are Arun Singh, Dushyant Gautam, Vinod Tawde, Tarun Chugh, Sunil Bansal, Radha Mohan Das Agarwal and B.L. Santosh.
Apart from Sunil Bansal and B.L. Santosh, all the general secretaries are current or former members of Parliament. Tarun Chugh and Vinod Tawde are among those who recently entered the Rajya Sabha.
