Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Saturday urged the residents of Bhubaneswar to refrain from bursting crackers on Diwali.
DCP Umashankar Dash told the media that as the state government has ordered a ban on the sale of firecrackers in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, police will take action against those violating the order.
Dash requested the people to inform police by dialling 100 if anyone is bursting crackers in their locality.
The DCP further said that to ensure strict implementation of the order, 17 platoons of force have been deployed in the city.
