New Delhi: The Civil Services (Main) examination, 2021 will be conducted as per schedule from Friday, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) informed on Wednesday.

The UPSC Mains exam is slated for January 7, 8, 9, 15, and 16. On the basis of the result of this exam, candidates will be called for a personal interview.

Keeping in view the restrictions/curbs being imposed to contain the disease, the Commission has requested the state governments to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the candidates/examination functionaries, especially those who are coming from containment/micro-containment zone(s). If necessary, the candidates’ e-Admit Cards and ID Cards of the examination functionaries are to be used as movement passes, it said.

The governments have also been requested to optimise public transport to ensure smooth movement of the candidates/examination functionaries.

COVID-19 Guidelines For The Exam:

-Guidelines mainly contain personal hygiene of the candidates/examination functionaries,
– Maintenance of social distancing and wearing of masks by the candidates/ examinations functionaries at all time
– Provision of sanitisers at convenient places in the venue and to the examination functionaries, candidates to carry their own sanitisers in transparent bottles, sanitization of each venue on regular basis,
– Two surplus examination rooms for accommodating the candidates who would be coughing, sneezing, having breathlessness, feeling feverish so that they can take the examination under appropriate safety protocols

The admit cards are on the official website, the link for which is upsc.gov.in.

Meanwhile, a petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking postponement of the Mains examination in view of the rising COVID-19 cases and the spread of the new Omicron variant, the Live Law reported.

Candidates have been demanding postponement of the exam by at least two weeks. Since many candidates will have to travel from different cities, it will make them vulnerable to the virus, they have argued.
