New Delhi: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has issued a clarification, stating that no changes have been made in LPG booking timings, as reported in social media and other platforms.

The government has asked people not to go in for panic booking of cylinders as sufficient stock exists in the country.

“Reports circulating in sections of the news and on social media about changes in LPG refill booking norms are incorrect. There is no change in LPG refill booking norms,” the ministry has posted on X.

“The minimum gap between two refill bookings remains: 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas. These timelines continue as per existing guidelines,” it clarified.

“Please, avoid panic booking. There is adequate LPG availability to meet demand,” the message added.

As per the reports being circulated, households with dual-cylinder connections would need to wait 35 days, while Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries may face a 45-day gap before booking the next LPG cylinder.

Those with single cylinder connections would have to wait 25 days before booking, it was circulated.

These changes were allegedly made by oil marketing companies like Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum.

Officials have claimed that such misinformation is being spread due to the ongoing West Asia Crisis and could result in chaos with people queuing up for refills even if they don’t require them.

Such reports can also lead to hoarding and black-marketing, officials warned. Stocks of LPG have started arriving to the country from various sources. LPG carriers are also moving through the Strait of Hormuz, they said.

Consumers have been advised to follow only official LPG booking guidelines and rely on authorised platforms such as MyLPG, IndianOil, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas portals for updates.
