Bhubaneswar: The MBBS students here have written to Governor Ganeshi Lal demanding cancellation of undergraduate exams due to suspension of classes for the last four months.
Amid the lockdown period since many educational institutions across the country have started teaching students online, the medical colleges in the state could not successfully run the classes.
“There is no such platform which could accommodate 250 MBBS students and teacher at one place. Those who can accommodate such numbers charge money. We need government support for such online classes otherwise our classes will remain suspended for an indefinite period,” an MBBS student told the media.
In the absence of classes, it would be difficult for the students to appear for the annual examination without preparation, the student added.
The state universities are yet to decide final dates to conduct the examination and accordingly convey the information to colleges.
Besides, the students also seek promotion based on the semester exams held earlier to escape a year’s loss due to the delay in the process. This could impact their admissions to postgraduate courses, another student said.
Meanwhile, students have also asked the government to provide adequate support for online education.
