Bhubaneswar: Congregation at the Bindusagar Lake and other water bodies in the Odisha capital have been prohibited and restriction imposed on mass bathing on the occasion of Kartika Purnima on November 30 in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday said that celebration of the festival, including the visit of temples, is banned under its limits to ensure public safety.
The Odisha government on Tuesday had issued prohibitory orders in this connection.
People usually congregate during the morning hours at water bodies, seashore and river banks to take bath and sail miniature boats as part of a tradition on the full moon day of the holy Kartika month.
