Puri: The three chariots of the sibling deities in Puri will not be dismantled this year, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) informed on Wednesday.
Briefing mediapersons, SJTA chief administrator Krishan Kumar said the three chariots are usually dismantled after Niladri Bije of the Lords to the main temple. This year, however, these chariots will not be dismantled completely.
“In a recent meeting with the members of the Jagannath Temple Managing Committee and the senior sevayats of the Chhattisha Nijog, it was decided that the three chariots will be kept at the Pramoda Udyana (recreation garden) inside the Jagannath Ballav Math premises,” Kumar said.
Since the chariots cannot be carried in its present form inside the Pramoda Udyana, a technical committee will be formed to dismantle the chariots and reassemble them again. “If any portion of the chariots is broken during the dismantling, it will be replaced with a new one,” he added.
