No Holiday For OTs In State-Run Health Facilities In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Emergency surgeries will now be performed at state-run facilities with an OT facility on holidays, including Sundays.
According to sources, the CDMOs have been directed to take immediate steps for opening 24×7 OTs to handle emergency cases at health centres with more than one specialist or surgeon.
This direction was issued amid concerns raised by Health Minister Naba Das over the closure of main OTs on second, and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays. Because of this poor patients, availing benefits under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, are forced to go to private hospitals in case of an emergency. This also puts pressure on the state exchequer.
