Bhubaneswar: Unrest continues to prevail on the Utkal University campus on Tuesday after two groups of students and non-students clashed over the provision of sub-standard food in the canteen and lack of other facilities yesterday night.

Speaking about the group clash and allegations regarding presence of non-students on the campus Vice-Chancellor Prof Sabita Acharya said the campus will be free of non-students soon.

As a measure to prevent entry of outsiders, she said there will be strict checking at the entry gate and no one will be allowed inside the campus without university identity card.

She also assured to take steps regarding the quality of food provided in the canteen.

It may be mentioned here on Monday night two groups clashed on the university premises over the issue of food quality.

While one group of students was going to meet the authorities concerned to complain about the poor quality of food another group, believed to be non-students, contested the claims and a clash broke out between the two.

The irate students had staged dharna in front of Gopabandhu Hostel.

Saheed Nagar police is camping on the university premises to prevent the situation from flaring up.
