No Immediate Cyclone Threat To Odisha, Says Met Dept
Bhubaneswar: The low pressure brewing over the South Andaman Sea has given way to speculation that a cyclone would hit the Indian coastline.
Dispelling the fear, Director of Bhubaneswar Met Centre, HR Biswas tweeted: Low pressure area on the Andaman Sea is not going to intensify in the next 4/5 days, so there is no threat of any Cyclone to #Odisha for now.
Indian Meteorological Department Chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra has also clarified that the low pressure is persisting without further intensification. It is not expected to intensify further in the next five days. It will have no impact on Odisha coast or the Indian coastline. “We have not registered any signs of cyclone, as of now. It will have impact only on south Andaman Sea and Nicobar Islands,” he told mediapersons.
“No warning has been sent for any coast in India. We haven’t predicted any cyclone or depression to hit any part of the coastal India. And the whole area is under observational watch for any further development,” he added.
