Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday clarified the order dated April 09, 2020 to release the seized vehicles should not be constructed as complete lifting of the ban on their movement during COVID-19 lockdown.
The order regarding obtaining undertaking from motorcycle users thrice before seizing the vehicle is applicable only to senior citizens and differently-abled persons so as to enable them to purchase essential items, it added.
The clarification came after the Advocate General and Additional Government advocate moved the HC seeking a clarification on its earlier order. They also appraised the court about availability of adequate number of vending zones within walkable distance in areas under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).
The court also directed the police authorities to allow doctors and health workers to commute freely on “production of their identification and certificates”.
