Nabarangpur: In a twist to the much-talked-about rape and murder of a minor girl of Kosagumuda in Nabarangpur district, police have said that there is no proof of the rape of the victim.
Talking to the media on Tuesday, the victim’s uncle and aunt said that DIG Southern Range Satyabrata Bhoi and Nabarangpur SP Kushalkar Nitin Dagdu had come to their house on Monday.
“The officers read out the post-mortem report saying that the girl was murdered. But there is no proof of the rape,” the girl’s uncle said.
“We are not going to accept the post-mortem report which is wrong. Police had gone to the spot where the incident had taken place on December 14. We had also gone to the spot and found that the underwear of the victim was lying at a distance. How come that the police could come to the conclusion that the victim was not raped? The post-mortem report has been deliberately tampered to shield the accused,” he added.
Following the incident, the Christian Samaj on Tuesday called for a 12-hour bandh in Kosagumuda block on January 4 to demand justice for the victim’s family, .
“We demand the state government to give justice to the family of the victim by January 4 failing which we will decide our next course action, Christian Samaj president Himanshu Sekhar Bag told the media.
The DIG and the SP could not be contacted for comment.
