Puri: Following people’s concern about the state government’s reported move on development of ‘Badadanda’ (Grand Road) in Odisha’s Puri town, the district administration ruled out widening of the road now.
Laying the apprehension about demolition of any structure for widening of the Grand Road to rest, the collector said there is no such proposal at present. Rather, the administration would work towards development of the road, said deputy collector of Puri Bhabatarana Sahu.
Speaking to media about reports of widening of the road by 20 ft on both sides, Sahu said it was false and baseless. Stating that the administration had no such plans, he said they were working towards enhancing beautification of the road for benefits of the devotees.
Giving details on the administration’s present proposals for the town, Sahu said the road from Kumbharpada Chhak to Batagaon would be widened. While the public hearing on the project is over, door-to-door survey is being carried out, he added.
Stating that the stretch from Swargadwar to Kakudikhai has become too narrow, he said the process of widening the road has already been initiated. Similarly, the road from Ganduachaura to Loknath temple would be made more spacious, he added.
