Bhubaneswar: In order to dispel the apprehension of people regarding COVID-19 in the wake of new strain of coronavirus found in United Kingdom, Directorate of Medical Education & Training has stated that there is no second wave of the disease.
Director of DMET CBK Mohanty on Thursday told the media that there is no need to fear regarding the new strain. But, people have to be more cautious and take all preventive measures prescribed by the state government in their daily lives, he added.
Stating that though the experts opine that the new strain has potentiality to spread faster, he said its symptoms are same as coronavirus. However, the strain is now under study by the experts, he added.
On the UK returnee to the city, Mohanty said he is now under observation in total quarantine in the hospital. His genetic analysis will be conducted, he added.
