No Students’ Union Election In Odisha This Year, Confirms Higher Education Minister
Bhubaneswar: Higher Education Minister Ananta Das on Saturday confirmed that Students’ Union Election will not be held in the current academic session.
He advised the students not to get affected by rumors on the same and concentrate on their studies.
On October 10, the Higher Education Department had notified that the elections had been cancelled in all colleges of the state in the aftermath of severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’.
With varied views and rumors doing the rounds on the social media, the Minister on Saturday clarified that the government had indeed cancelled the elections.
The college elections were scheduled to be held on October 11 this year. The Higher Education Department had earlier postponed the polls and announced closure of all colleges on October 11 and 12 in view of the cyclone ‘Titli’.
