No Travel History Of 5th COVID-19 Patient; Bhubaneswar’s Surya Nagar Declared ‘Containment Zone’
Bhubaneswar: Unable to establish travel and contact history of the 5th COVID-19 patient, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday declared Surya Nagar as restricted zone for containment purpose.
Revealing the identity of the patient, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said barricades will be put up at all entry and exit points and no person allowed to enter or leave the area till further orders. “LIC Square to Ganga Nagar Square, Ganga Nagar Square to Siripur Square, Siripur Square to Gopabandhu Square and Gopabandhu Square to LIC Square have been notified as restricted area,” he said.
The inhabitant have been asked to remain at home. All shopping establishment have been directed to down shutters. All government and private institution within the boundary of the containment zone have also been closed.
“Supply of essentials and medical requirements will be ensured through various teams formed by BMC. A medical team will visit every house to collect information on health-related issues,” the commissioner said.
Three nodal officers – Bhabani Pr Mishra, Kamaljit Das and Dr Pati – have been appointed for smooth supply of essentials/health facilities in the area, he added.
Chaudhary also warned people against indulging in any act of social discrimination against Dalabehera and his family members. “Any violation of the same shall be
punishable under section 188 IPC and the relevant provision of Epidemic Disease 1897,” he added.
Earlier in the day, the government’s spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi had revealed that 21 persons who had come in contact with the 5th patient had been identified.
