Nor’wester Rain, Gusty Wind To Lash 23 Districts Of Odisha Today; Mercury To Rise Again After 24 Hrs

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm activity with lightning will continue in Odisha for three days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, and Kendrapada till 8.30 am on Tuesday.

There is also a forecast for light to moderate rain/thundershowers at many places in the state. Bhubaneswar may experience partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to be around 35°C and 23°C respectively.

The weather agency has also forecast a gradual rise in the day temperature by 2-3°C in the subsequent 3 days.

On April 9, yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning has been issued for one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada districts. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers may also occur at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada ,Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, and Bargarh.

The yellow warning continues on April 10 for Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada districts. Light to moderate rain/thundershower is also likely at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, and Dhenkanal.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower may continue at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada on April 11 and Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Gajapati on April 12. Dry weather is likely to prevail across the state thereafter, it added.
