Bhubaneswar: Noted poet and journalist Praharaj Satyanarayan Nanda passed away on Wednesday following a brief illness. He was 82.
Nanda, who was ailing for some time, breathed his last on Wednesday, family sources said.
Born at Nilgiri in Balasore district on September 6, 1943, he did his graduation from F.M. College, Balasore with English Hons and completed M.A. in English from Ravenshaw College (now university) in Cuttack in 1966.
Known for his versatility, Nanda made a foray into journalism and worked in the editorial wings of News of the World and Amrita Bazar Patrika for several years. He also worked as Managing Editor of ‘Utkal Prasanga’, published by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Odisha government (1975-2001).
A multi-faceted personality, Nanda carved a special identity for his literary works. His creations include ‘Neelahansara Jwala’, Adhapatana Chhanda, Sabda Sangama ‘O’ Anyanya Kabita and Jianta Salagram.
