Puri: The mortal remains of renowned sculptor and Padma Vibhushan awardee Raghunath Mohapatra were cremated with full state honours at his native village of Girala in Puri district on Sunday night.
The body of Mohapatra, who succumbed to COVID-19, was brought in an ambulance van from AIIMS-Bhubaneswar to his village in the evening. Puri Sub-collector Bhabataran Sahoo, Additional Superintendent of Police and other senior officials paid their last respects to the departed soul.
The funeral pyre was lit by the late sculptor’s grandson Nitetsh Mohapatra.
