NOUL May Create Low-Pressure Area Over Bay On Sept 20; Heavy Rain To Lash North Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Remnant of the tropical storm NOUL, which developed over the South China Sea this week, is likely to create a low-pressure area over the northeast Bay of Bengal on Sunday.
It is likely to further concentrate into a depression on land over West Bengal the next day, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) at the SOA Deemed to be University here said Friday.
The system is likely to move into Gangetic West Bengal on Sunday night and then in a westerly direction into Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh thereafter and have its impact till September 23.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the districts of north Odisha on September 20 and 21. Parts of western Odisha would also receive rainfall on September 22.
South Odisha and the coastal region are also likely to experience rain from September 19 to 21 due to wind flow from central India as well as the Arabian Sea, the bulletin added.
