Balangir: After schoolteachers, two lecturers in Odisha’s Balangir were suspended on Saturday for allegedly securing jobs by submitting fake marksheets.
The accused have been identified as Narendra Nag and Lingaraj Meher of Rajendra Meher Higher Secondary School at Jogimunda. While Nag was a lecturer of Political Science, Meher was teaching Odia in the educational institution.
According to sources, both the lecturers had allegedly submitted fake marksheets from Sambalpur University.
After verification of their marksheets and based on the report of the Principal, the State Higher Education Department issued the suspension letter. Patnagarh Sub-Collector, who is also the president of the governing body of the institute, has been directed to register an FIR and initiate criminal action against the duo.
Sources further said that a complaint has been lodged at Patnagarh police station by the college management and the accused asked to return their entire salary of Rs 31,60, 252 each received as block grants and from the college management.
On August 18, four teachers were dismissed by the district education officer (DEO) for producing fake educational certificates during their recruitment in the district. Earlier, they were suspended following the DEO’s police complaint against them.
