Bhubaneswar To streamline accommodations for travellers and officials, the Public Works Department on Wednesday introduced an online booking system for its Inspection Bungalows (IBs) in Odisha’s key urban and tourist hubs
Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan officially launched the e-IB portal, enabling digital reservations for PWD Inspection Bungalows in Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Konark. This initiative digitises the previously manual booking process, making it more accessible and efficient for both government officials and the general public.
The e-IB platform offers a user-friendly digital interface that simplifies room booking and allotment. Key features include online booking and cancellation options, centralised access to all booking-related information, remote accessibility from anywhere, and real-time tracking of booking and allotment status.
According to the Works Department, the new system promotes greater transparency and accountability compared to the traditional manual method. “It will help eliminate delays in the booking process and play a significant role in providing services to the users in a simple, efficient and convenient manner,” it added.
The online portal is expected to ease accommodation challenges for tourists, pilgrims, and officials visiting these high-footfall areas. It also aligns with broader efforts to digitise government services in Odisha, enhancing convenience for users while improving administrative oversight of public facilities.
The Minister also launched the Contractor Database Management System (CDMS) 3.0, developed by the Works Department, aimed at simplifying, increasing transparency, improving efficiency, and making contractor management more delivery-focused across the state’s infrastructure sector. This centralised digital database will store comprehensive information related to contractors, including their details, licenses, certificates and performance records. The system is well- equipped with features such as workflow management, analytical dashboards, MIS reports and integration with other systems,” it added.
